There’s a saying that I love: “change your thoughts, and you change your life.” I’ve seen it play out in my own life, and I know how powerful thoughts can be.
It sounds simple, but our thoughts are running in the background 24/7 and we don’t even realise how much they’re affecting us. Before I began my mindset journey, I didn’t notice how negative or self-critical I was being every single day. And when you’ve been thinking that way for years, it starts to feel normal.
But here’s the thing: your thoughts aren’t just thoughts. They shape your feelings, your actions and ultimately, your results. Change your thoughts and change your life…
Your subconscious runs the show
Most of the beliefs that drive us, especially when it comes to things like money, success, self-worth or relationships, come from the subconscious mind. These are the thoughts you’ve absorbed over years of interactions with other people – your parents, teachers, friends, coworkers, society and so on! For example, seeing someone put their hand up in class and being ridiculed for giving the wrong answer can put some people off speaking up for life. Or maybe your parents told you ‘People like us don’t get rich’ or ‘you’re getting too big for your boots’.
These lingering negative beliefs can shape the way you show up in your business, your bank account, your relationships and even how you take care of yourself.
But here’s the empowering bit: once you start becoming aware of those patterns, you can choose to change them. And that’s where mindset work, NLP and the Law of Attraction come in. They give you the tools to change your thoughts and ultimately, change your life.
Rewiring your internal dialogue
As a qualified NLP practitioner, one of the things I help my clients do is learn to recognise when their inner voice is keeping them stuck. Then we can work together to shift it.
Let’s say you catch yourself thinking, “I can’t charge that much – no one will pay it.” That thought leads to doubt, which leads to underpricing, which leads to frustration and burnout. But if you interrupt that pattern and reframe it to something like, “I offer real value, and the right people will see that,” everything starts to shift. And that shift isn’t just in how you feel, but also in how you show up and what you allow yourself to receive.
The same goes for thoughts like:
- “I’ll never get ahead”. Let’s change that to: “I’m taking aligned steps every day.”
- “I’m just not confident”. What about: “Confidence grows every time I show up.”
- “I always mess things up”. Well, that can become” “I’m learning all the time, and that’s progress.”
This is about speaking to yourself like someone you care about and reprogramming the internal scripts that have been holding you back.
The Law of Attraction: thoughts become things
The Law of Attraction teaches us that what we focus on, we attract. If you’re constantly thinking from a place of fear, lack, or comparison, you’ll naturally align with more of that.
But when you begin to shift your thinking to focus on gratitude, possibility and self-belief, your energy changes. You start to take different actions. You find yourself beginning to believe in your own worth. You attract better opportunities, clients and connections.
How this links to money
So, how does all this tie into your financial life?
Your money mindset is a direct reflection of your beliefs about worth, value, security, and success. If you believe money is scarce or hard to come by, you’ll struggle to hold onto it. If you believe you’re not good with money, you’ll avoid looking at it. If you believe you’re not worth investing in, you’ll undersell yourself or say yes to things that don’t serve you.
But when you start changing your thoughts from “I can’t do it” to “I’m learning how to do it” … from “I’m not good enough” to “I’m building something meaningful” … from “Money is stressful” to “Money is a tool that supports me” you begin to make different choices. You begin to back yourself, you start to receive more, and you begin to trust the process.
Changing your thoughts isn’t a one-time event. It’s a practice. A decision you make every day to choose something kinder, stronger, and more aligned with who you’re becoming.
The best part is that you don’t need to wait until you’ve got it all figured out to begin. You just need a willingness to get curious and the courage to start. If you’d like to start your journey, just get in touch with me for a chat to see how I can help.
