January is the month of fresh starts and good intentions, and it comes hot on the heels of the whirlwind that is December. What with buying gifts, festive get-togethers and those little indulgences that make Christmas so special, it’s easy to feel like money has flown out more quickly than it came in. If you’re looking to reset your financial mindset and bring in more positive energy around money, you might have come across the idea of money affirmations. But what are they, and do they work? In this month’s blog, I’ll be chatting about what they are, how they’re used and whether they can really make a difference.

What are money affirmations?

Money affirmations are simple, positive statements that help reframe our mindset around money. The idea is that by repeating these affirmations daily, or writing them in a journal, we can shift our energy and start attracting more abundance into our lives. The concept of money affirmations is closely linked to the law of attraction, the belief that the energy we put out into the world influences what we receive in return.

Here are a few of my favourite affirmations to help bring financial confidence and success into my life. Remember, your affirmations are personal to you, but you might find mine give you some inspiration!

  • Today I attract abundance, joy and success in every aspect of my life.
  • I am financially secure and free from worry.
  • I am open and receptive to all the wealth life offers me.
  • I am in perfect alignment with the energy of abundance.
  • I am a money magnet, and money comes to me from many avenues.
  • I am a magnet for money—it is attracted to my positive energy.
  • I bless and release all my past beliefs about money.
  • I am in complete awe of my financial situation as money and success flow to me effortlessly from all directions. I trust the universe to continue bringing this wealth and energy to me.

How can you use money affirmations?

The magic of affirmations comes from making them a daily habit. I’m a big believer in having a morning routine that sets my intention for the day and boosts my positive mindset. I blogged about it all the way back in 2021, which you can read about here. So, here are some simple ways you can try to work money affirmations into your routine:

  • Say them out loud – Start your day by speaking your affirmations with confidence, repeating them three times over.
  • Write them down – Journaling affirmations also helps to embed them in your subconscious. Again, make sure you write them out at least three times.
  • Visualise success – Try not to just write them or say them without any emotion. Instead, picture yourself achieving your financial goals while saying your affirmations.
  • Stick them somewhere visible – A note on your mirror or phone wallpaper can serve as a lovely reminder throughout the day, not just during your morning routine.
  • Pair them with meditation – Using your money affirmations in moments of stillness can make them even more powerful.

Do money affirmations actually work?

Now, it’s important to note that affirmations alone won’t magically transform your bank balance overnight. But what they can do is shift your mindset, boost your confidence, and open you up to new financial opportunities. If you’ve spent years thinking, I’m just bad with money or I’ll never be financially successful, replacing those thoughts with positive affirmations will be a game changer.

In my opinion, any affirmations, including money-focused ones, work best when paired with practical action. That’s why reviewing your spending, setting financial goals and making intentional money choices will all play a key role in your financial wellbeing – alongside making those money affirmations part of your daily routine.

Bringing positive energy to your finances in 2025

Instead of seeing January as a time of financial regret, I’d love you to treat it as a fresh start. Here’s how to set yourself up for an abundant year ahead:

  • Be mindful of your money story by taking a moment to reflect on the beliefs you hold about money. Are they helping or holding you back?
  • Set clear financial goals, whether it’s saving more, investing or earning more, set intentions for what you want to achieve this year.
  • Make empowered spending choices. Before making a purchase, ask yourself: Is this aligned with my financial goals?
  • Take small steps daily because they can create a big impact over time. Even small habits, like setting up an automatic savings transfer, will help you achieve your goals.

Money affirmations won’t do all the work for you, but I know they will help you cultivate a mindset of abundance and confidence and push the right energy out to the universe. When you combine them with smart financial decisions, you’re setting yourself up for success, and that’s the kind of energy I want to carry into 2025!
