In this blog I’m taking you through an idea that’s key to helping you manifest everything you want in life – acting as if and how acting as if can help you manifest. It’s a core element of the Law of Attraction, so I’ll start with a quick review of what that is and how it can help you thrive!

What is the Law of Attraction?

The Law of Attraction is a theory that suggests our thoughts and beliefs can manifest into reality. It’s based on the idea that like attracts like, so if you think positive thoughts, you will attract corresponding positive experiences or outcomes in your life. And the same is true if you’re stuck in a rut of negative thinking. Lots of people hear about the Law of Attraction thanks to the book (and subsequent film) The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, but it also has its roots in all sorts of philosophical and religious teachings throughout history.

How ‘acting as if’ can help you manifest

One key aspect of the Law of Attraction is the ‘acting as if’ principle. This involves consciously behaving and thinking as if what you’re trying to manifest or do has already been achieved – or is in the process of being achieved. It’s about adopting the mindset and behaviours of the person you aspire to be or the circumstances you want to manifest. If we convince ourselves that what we want to manifest has already happened, it makes it easier for us to surrender and find bliss in the present moment. That’s how acting as if can help you manifest your dream life.

Five ways to work ‘acting as if’ into your mindset and routine 

  1. Visualisation

The very first step to acting as if is to visualise yourself already having achieved your goals. Imagine how you would feel, right down to what you can smell, hear and see. What you would be doing and how would your life would be different? Engage all your senses and power of imagination to make the visualisation as vivid as possible.

  1. Belief

Develop a solid belief that what you desire is already on its way to you. Or focus on the idea that you are already in possession of it. This belief is crucial because it aligns your subconscious mind with your desires. That makes it more likely that you will attract them into your life.

  1. Be aware of your behaviour

Think about acting in accordance with your desired outcome. So, review your goals and then work on making choices that align with them. Think about taking actions and exhibiting behaviours that are consistent with the person you want to become or the situation you want to manifest.

  1. Practise gratitude

I want you to make sure you set aside time every single day to practise gratitude for what you already have and for the manifestations that are on their way. It’s impossible to feel negative when you’re focused on gratitude. That’s why gratitude helps to amplify positive emotions and aligns your energy with abundance.

  1. Release attachment

Finally, I’d like you to focus on letting go of your attachment to the outcome. Instead, think about placing your trust in the process of manifestation. Holding onto attachment or acting from a place of desperation can create resistance. And that could impede the flow of positive energy to you. Remember, like attracts like!

If your immediate reaction after reading is ‘I’m not sure it’s healthy to pretend my reality doesn’t exist’, I totally understand, and I agree. That’s not what it’s about. I don’t want you living in denial or pretending that your current circumstances don’t matter. It’s about consciously shifting your mindset and behaviour to align with the reality you truly desire. You still need to take practical steps towards your goals.
